Time is of the essence 2003-03-27 11:40 p.m.
I am trying to PC my second lit Paper one presentation which is chapter Fourteen of Book the First of Dicken's classical satirical novel Hard Times. Interestingly enough, one of the main features of the chapter is on time and how Dickens covers time in his book. I remeber my old pajamas with the words "Time and tide wait for no men". Hmm. never bother about it until lately. i mean, it ws only last year that I found I had no time to revise for my promos. and only three weeks after that was my Chinese AO and in between was my PW presentation. Oh, short digression. I know I wrote some form of acknowledgements for the report but I wouldlike to include these few in... Grace and Louisa, for providing information on the number of HK scholars from their secondary school. i know you guys did not want to be acknowledged but thanks anyway. Marianne, for similar information of the number of PRC scholar back in st. nicks Prasanna, my dear chap, your talks on scholars life was interesting, Xin Yi, so more stuff on scholars form nayang girl's could be added Ok back to the subject. Time is of the essence. One week before the common tests was like a perpetual road race for me clearing up revision. I remember sending my friends this sms--" Weather forecast for this week. heavy pressure with scattered nervous break downs." To which one of them replied, "Haha how true manz...Dun get too stressed out lah muz think positive about the block test". Great inspiration which this person has always given me. In the chapter, Dickens mentions" Time with his innumerable horse-power, worked away, not minding what anybody said," giving a nice attribute to time, that of the units used for machines and cars. How nice. Hard Times seems a wonderful text to PC. It fits more than Antony and Cleopatra in the context of our presnt world. Ah well, time to go. Funny huh?
