Only love can say 2003-07-12 11:43 p.m. Today's PC class was a drastic change from the usual comments and monosyllabic answers we always give Mr. Whitby. The first thing he said was "Today I'm going to explore your personal lives", or something of that sort. He then proceeded by asking us whether we shared our lives with someone else (that is, do we have a partner in life). For the sake of those who raised their hands, I shall not reveal their names and no, I am not attached, whatever some people may say. It was quite a scene with everyone shifting their eyes to find who are the love birds in the class. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), not many people raised their hands in response to the question. Then again, they could be hiding the truth. Mr. Whitby's next question was whether we (and our partner) would want to approach a higher being to find out whether the relationship would last and whether we should continue with it. It was one of those transcendental type of questions which one usually does not consider it our everyday lives. In my view, love should be explored and experimented with, and even if some greater person prediction is that of a broken relationship, I would ignore that. Opinions were exchanged and he finally gave us the poem of the day Robert Frost "Two look at Two". Now, I would not want to discuss the whole poem over here, firstly because it would just end up in a PC of it and secondly, it would take me forever to type this. The poem begins with “Love and forgetting might have carried them a little further up the mountain side”. It proceeds to describe nature in a negative way, which actually symbolizes the obstacles face in a relationship. The title actually is about comparing deer (in this case and doe and a buck) and somehow leads to a reflection of love. The line “She seemed to think that two thus they were safe” shows the common assumption that love provides peace and security. Enough about the poem. This whole week issues have been about love. Event number one: Talk about a supposed friend of the opposite sex in another college with someone turned into a session about whether love is in the air. Event number two: Either I’m mistaken, but there seems to be an increased number of couples in my school, especially between people that I know. (Again names shall not be mentioned.) Event number three: My conversations across MSN with my friend all were above relationships. Is love inevitable? Love can spoilt you and can instill happiness in you. Love with this double edge sword, may be a precipitous area to even venture into. So it may not uncommon to see couples amongst students, but I have this dreaded feeling that it is too early to start. Love should be explored later. The education system prevents us from touching it at this moment. Someone told me other wise an said that it is an ideal time to start. I guess it is hard not to be wondering about those of the opposite sex during these years. I am just curious as to how people can manage to hold a relationship and juggle it with other responsibilities. To have the passion for love would set your basis for finding the true person. However, marriage, the next step in a relationship is the most pressing issue at all. Someone told me” you don’t have to marry the first girl that you meet” and a book that I read said that people should not be bonded and chained by marriage. The issue I wish to present here is not so much about who should you chose as your life long partner, but whether you have been given the right path in the circle of love. So a friend I talk to said, it is easy to have a relationship, so long as you have a good head on your shoulders to get on with love. He then launched into how a relationship is like an economic transaction and that a relationship can be improved by “innovation, technological improvement, investment, capital replacement, product differentiation.” Love and relationships are intertwined so much that they sometimes make a mess of each other. Are you in the best relationship you have experienced? What is true love to you? On a side note here, this entry has nothing to do with my life. It’s the closest I can get to a philosophical debate.
