Will you still love me tomorrow

2004-03-13 9:04 p.m.

Hmm…peculiar incidents and thoughts have been flooding me this week. Let’s see……..

1. Work in my unit has increased tenfold. The Ops room which although with the addition of another person, is still badly understaffed in my opnion. Preparing close to three hundred letters was the sole job this week. However, humour floated around in the midst of the heavy burden laid on our shoulders.

2. Our junior officers seem to be more relaxed and casual towards everone nowadays. Maybe it’s because the age difference is hardly there and maybe it’s because Lieutenant S is going to ORD soon. In recent weeks, you’ll find him, his protégé Lieutenant Ong and my Ops Spec hardly engaging in their work at all—oops, am I suppose to say this—but instead playing some soccer game on a labtop. All of us other lowly NSFs just can’t ignore them and everyday you’ll find a few of us crowding around the three of them. That happened on Thursday, and incidentally a senior officer was in the room next door. Lest we get punished for playing around, we started “discussing” some fictitious military operation with the football players being NSmen and the football filed turning into some camp or battleground. Hilarious half an hour I had with them. If only we could have more officers and sergeants like them…

3. Friday saw me going out for dinner with some people from the same unit. CH and the rest will be oh so jealous. Sorry guys. Anyway, dinner was at Olio Dome simply because 21/22 year old Lieutenants haven’t hit Orchard Road for a long time. The first thing they looked at was not so much the description of the food but the price. Anyway, the total cost came to around $ 200, well within the allowance of an officer.(You see, LTA Sim was suppose to treat us.) However, the restaurant simply would accept his NETS card—sounds like a familiar story to me—sound a gold AMEX was used instead.

4. I had the most unexpected dream on Wednesday. At first, I was with my good old friend Feng Yi talking about Chemistry—don’t ask me why. Then the scene shifted to a hotel room and I saw Amandae and Nicholas talking together inside. Being my usual self (the usual self I was in NJC), I stood in a corner and didn’t disturb them. Again, it’s most perculiar why I should be in a room with two people from A04. Then, they went downstairs and I followed discreetly, although there was this mysterious voice telling me to talk to Amandae. Was it because of what happened this year? Downstairs was some club/pub just like the one I went to after Prom and gathered there were the rest of 02A04 minus CH. Some of them greeted me, something that never happened before in school. The lights dimmed and romantic music filled the air. Everyone save me danced with a partner, a total contrast to the normal strobe lights and continuous body movement in INDUS3. All of a sudden, a great fountain appeared in the middle of the room and handfuls of foam were thrown all over the place. Without thought, I scooped up one handful and threw it without looking, only to find that it hit Louisa right on her cheek. Now in real life that would be a total disaster for me but in the dream she just laughed and pulled me next to her. Then I exited the club and met CH, Wee Jian and Joe. They were all seating just like we usually would in a debate and Joe was reading out the last portion of some speech. Something about accepting me as an unofficial member of their class. Then the rest of E2B came in and applauded and everyone shook hands with me even the girls. I was sort of squeezed into the middle and laughter and smiles filled the air. Sigh, if only the dream could come true….

Oh by and by, the title of this entry may not look as if fits anything I wrote here except the last entry. I wanted to name it differently, with the “you” replaced by someone’s name rhyming with it. However, people would scream “off with his head” if I did so.
