Unexpected news 2004-05-30 8:10 p.m. Three unexpected events in the news: (no not the local or international news but my own sort.) 1. ACS (International), the sixth ACS school here in Singapore, has choosen Mrs Goh Chi LAn, former Principal of NJC as its excutive director. For those lost, ACS (International) is the latest ambitious project to draw in the brains of top foreign and local students and instill the "ACS brand of education" in them. Mrs Goh was the principal of NJ from 1989 to 1995. It may seem perculiar to choose her of all people but she has a strong background in the field of education and initiated many changes to NJC in her time. 2. ACJC's rugby team lost the Police Cup ( the first time in many years) to its rival RJC. Quite a shock to ACSians and ACS rugby players. I guess its a bigger shock to the players of my year who have never seen defeat before. Times change I guess. I do hope the ACS flag will still continue to shine in the future. 3. ACS(I)'s scouts got their fame this year by being the Guard of Honour Marching contigent for this year's Founder's Day Parade. Amazing in my view. Never expected them to reach that stage. The only thing missing was the M16s but you can't have everything. Way to go indeed. Thus ends the news flash from me again.Aufwidersehen.
