Vale Festival 2008, Inhaling Helium, the end of Toto * 2008-06-11 11:29 a.m.
I’m still not sure about charity events for good causes. Especially since the music is there for entertainment and not to drive home any message. Especially since the area is alcohol infested. I’ve nothing against that, but well, the event eventually becomes let’s get crazy in the sun and evening. The alcohol I also believe is what keeps one chattering non stop even during a movie event… Ok, Vale Festival 2008 was still great. Great in seeing Rhys, Laura, Janet, Helen Coy and Heather once again. Great in meeting Rhys’ girlfriend Katie. The UN Stall was pushed to a smaller corner this time but all seemed well. Half way through, it also just so happened at we had balloons to blow. It also just so happened that we had a helium tank to fill the balloons. Somehow we all got daring and tried to inhale the helium (from the balloons) to see if we could get Donald Duck like voices. Result: Didn't work. Or maybe it did on our President, but she's female and there wasn't any difference in her voice. Yeah. Couldn’t find Catherine’s Intervol Thailand stall though. Oh, the midnight movie was Shooting Dogs, which to me was Hotel Rwanda with a sadder ending. Oh, Toto (My now favourite band) has broken up!! See this. After more than 30 years of fame since the song “Africa”, they are gone. Incidentally, On of their latest (and now last) songs, “Bottom of your soul” fit in well with events with Vale Festival, which focused on issues like Climate Change and Water Aid. Here are the lyrics: Botton of your soul Where are the children we lost not long ago Feel for the Mothers who weep for them I pray for the Fathers who are standing by their side In their world of pain and suffering Have you ever seen the look in a hungry child's eyes Chorus You can swim in a river of tears they cry Chorus (Courtsey of Toto99.com) One day, I’ll write an analysis of the song. For now, to the members of Toto, “now you’re gone and I have to say…”
